I don't understand why Amy is settling for Jon. It's clear she can't stand him. Why almost doesn't matter. If that's the way she feels about him, why is she wasting both of their time?
I understand how someone who has been single for a long time would try not to be too picky, but there are certain minimum standards for relationship, especially if you want it to turn long term. Being able to stand the other party is a bare minimum.
I also understand how someone might feel that they were still single because they were too picky for too long. But what's a worse fate? Being single, or married to someone who you can't stand? I think that the answer is obvious. Especially since an unhappy marriage will probably not last in any case. The question is whether it will fall apart sooner or later.
At minimum: the two parties need to get along, to enjoy each other's company, to be sexually attracted to each other to some degree, and probably to be about as intelligent as each other. Those are really non-negotiable, and "settling" for the absence of those is just a recipe for eventual disaster: an affair or a divorce or just plain misery.
